TITLE: The Journal of George Washington 1753-1754
DESCRIPTION: An account of his first official mission, made as emissary from the Governor of Virginia (Robert Dinwiddie)to the Commandant of the French forces on the Ohio (Legardeur de St. Piere , October 1753 to January 1754. This was a diplomatic assignment in Washington was to deliver an ultimatum to the French to evacuate the Ohio Territory, which was of course ignored and set the scene for what is known in North America as the French & Indian War (aka The Sevens Year War as it is known in Europe.) This is a journal of travels to and from Williamsburg and his efforts to recruit Indians to the British cause. The booklet also includes the English translation from the French Commandant.
