The mission of the nonprofit Lancaster Virginia Historical Society is to discover, collect, preserve, understand and interpret the history of Lancaster and surrounding counties of the Commonwealth of Virginia for the enjoyment and educational benefit of all residents, succeeding generations and visitors to the area.
Since the founding of our Museum and Library in 1958, our organization has continued to be an important and relevant resource for historical and genealogical research and educational outreach about the people, places, stories, and events of Lancaster’s past, and our region’s role in the history of Virginia and our nation.
